The Help

We have seen the movie «The Help» in the class and it is about a girl who wants to become a writer. That girl is Skeeter. The movie is set in the 1960s. Skeeter wants to write about the black women who have spent their lives taking care of white families. First one black nanny wants to tell their story, but she ends up with many more. Then the book comes out and it turns her own town upside down, including her own friends.

Personally I think the movie “The Help” is really good. I think it reflects the racism and the class distinction in the 1960s. It illustrates how the blacks were oppressed.

National Stereotyping

I think national stereotyping is not good because it  may not be true. National stereotyping can also be harmful, for example that the french people are cowards who surrender immediately when confronted with danger. This idea is based on their quick capitulation during the Nazi invasion. This national stereotype is wrong, the french resistance assasinated Nazi officers and attacked their supply lines. Actually the french army surrendered in order to prevent the destruction of Paris.

Gandhi scene 2 and 7.

 I have seen the movie "Gandhi" and i am going to write a little bit about scene 2 and 7.

In scene 2 Gandhi is sitting in the compartment on a train in South Africa. Then the conductor comes to the compartment where Gandhi sits. The conductor asks why Gandhi is sitting in first class. Gandhi says that he have a ticket and gives it to the conductor. The conductor asks how he got a first class ticket. Gandhi says that he sent for it in the post and that he is attorney. And then they are discussing whether is colored attorneys in South Africa or not. Gandhi wins the discussion and then he is being thrown off on the nearest train station.

I think he learns that the British are discriminating the colored. He sees that the colored doesn’t have the same rights as the British have. Therefore he wants to do something with it.

In scene 7 Gandhi are giving his significant speech.

In his speech he is telling what the British are doing their country and people, for example: He is saying that all Indians have to be fingerprinted and that all marriages except the Christian marriage is now regarded as illegal. The Indians are getting angry when he says this. He also says that whatever they do to us, we will never beat them because that will just provoke the British. In his speech he is urging the Indians to fight against the British in a nonviolent way.

Why is the Great Barrier Reef threatened?

The Great Barrier Reef is the world  biggest coral reef. The reef is outside the coast of Queensland in Australia.

Great Barrier Reef is beeing threatened by tourists who is stepping on the corals. Boats are alos damaging the Reef. Boats who are leaking oil and boats who are dropping their anchor and drag them along The Reef.

I think its sad that the Reef is beeing destroyed by boats and torusim. I think the boats should be denied from driving near the Great Barrier Reef. I also think that it should be people who guides the toruists.

One step further towards freedom!

I saw on bbc that Loyal forces to Libyas transitional authorites have taken the airport in Sirte. Sirte is where Muammar Gadaffi was Born, and there is now heavy fighting going on in Sirte. Im glad that people finally stand against Gadaffi. I think Sirte is soon going to fall.
